Lab Members

Lance Lee, PhD
Principal Investigator

Lance obtained his Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from Boston College in 1995, his M.S. in Genetics from the University of Connecticut in 1997, and his Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology from Stony Brook University in 2004.  He then did a postdoctoral fellowship at Children’s Hospital Boston / Harvard Medical School, where he studied genetic causes of primary ciliary dyskinesia in mouse models.  He is currently a faculty member in the Pediatric & Rare Diseases Group at Sanford Research, where he oversees the research projects in the Lee Lab with ongoing interests in cilia biology and primary ciliary dyskinesia genetics.

Casey McKenzie
Senior Laboratory Technician

Casey obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Briar Cliff University in 2001 as a double major in biology and theater. He then worked for several years in the veterinary pharmaceutical industry before joining the Lee Lab. He is currently involved in projects that focus on identifying genetic and molecular causes of primary ciliary dyskinesia.

Jennifer Kuiken

Jennifer is an undergraduate student at the University of Sioux Falls and she is working in the Lee Lab during the academic year through the SPUR program. Her work supports projects focusing on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying primary ciliary dyskinesia.
