Alexei Savinov, MD, PhD

Alexei has been studying diabetes pathogenesis for more than 20 years. He is very passionate about understanding how different checkpoints in adaptive immunity are affected during development of autoimmunity. After graduating from The 1st Leningrad Medical Academy (Leningrad, USSR) with a MD and specialization in surgery, he obtained a PhD in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the Institute for Experimental Medicine, Academy of Medical Sciences of USSR (Leningrad, USSR). Alexei completed two postdoctoral fellowships: first, in the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at the University of Maryland, School of Medicine (Baltimore, MD) and second, in The Jackson Laboratory (Bar Harbor, ME). Later, he worked as a staff scientist at the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute (La Jolla, CA) before joining Sanford Research as an assistant scientist.

Ilian Radichev, PhD

llian received his master’s degree in cytology, histology and developmental biology from Sofia University (Sofia, Bulgaria) in 1996. He accomplished his PhD in molecular biology (Department of Molecular Biology of the Cell Cycle) from the Institute of Molecular Biology at Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (Sofia, Bulgaria) in 2006. During his PhD studies he spent two years at the NICHD – NIH (Bethesda, MD) as a pre-doctoral fellow. Ilian then completed a postdoctoral fellowship (2007-2010) at the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute (La Jolla, CA) before joining Sanford Research in 2010. He is currently a staff scientist in the Savinov Lab.

Arnold Lund, BS

Arnold is a research associate in the Savinov Lab with more than 10 years of laboratory experience in industrial and academic settings. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from South Dakota State University (Brookings, SD) in 2006. From 2007 to 2013 he worked as a pharmaceutical technician and then analytical chemist at Novartis (Lincoln, NE). In 2013 and 2014 he worked at Zoetis (Lincoln, NE) where he was involved in vaccine manufacturing. In 2015 he became a research assistant at the University of Nebraska (Lincoln, NE) before joining Sanford Research in 2016.
