Cardiovascular Health
Cardiovascular Health Research Center includes basic studies examining cardiac and skeletal muscle development and how that is altered in muscular dystrophy; studies examining how diabetes, thyroid hormone and the sympathetic nervous system affect the pathogenesis of heart failure and clinical studies examining the role of Omega-3 fatty acids in cardiovascular disease. Under Director William S. Harris, PhD, an internationally known expert in Omega-3 and heart disease and Associate Director Timothy O’Connell, PhD, the center is attracting significant funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other private institutions. |
