Science Discovery Day

Spring 2017 Event: Tuesday, April 11th from 8:30am-2:00pm

Since spring of 2011 Sanford Research has hosted over 2700 high school student at the semi-annual Science Discovery Day event.  Each fall and spring we invite over 200 students to learn about the passion, experience, and current projects in research and biomedical science in the region.  

Participants:

Are you a student or a teacher interested in learning more about biomedical careers available in our region? Do you have questions about what science skills are required what college degrees might be needed?  

We invite high school sophomores and juniors with a genuine interest in the sciences to join us and get exposure to hands-on techniques and skills utilized by regional science professions. The program includes career presentations, hands-on activities, and exhibits from area industries and universities. Attendees will receive lunch and a Sanford PROMISE T-shirt. Presenters include professionals from Sanford Research and other area biomedical industry and academic institutions.

Presenters: 

Are you currently working in a STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) or related field? Are you passionate about your selected career? Do you enjoy sharing your path, position, and passion with students? Would you have liked to know about the vast array of opportunities in science when you were a high school student?  If you answer yes to any of these, we would love to have you present for regional students at our Science Discovery Day.  The program targets high school sophomores and juniors with an interest in the sciences and seeks to give these students a hands-on introduction to regional science careers. Exhibitors

Is your organization (University, College, Industry, etc) interested in connecting with students who have an interest in careers in STEM, especially careers in science and research? We would love to invite you to set up a hands-on exhibit highlighting the science and research that goes on at your organization  and discuss with students possible college pathways/science careers and skill-sets your company/school looks for.
