Tracy McMahon, MS : Research Associate II
I have researched a diverse range of topics such as transportation issues on South Dakota reservations; the biophysical characteristics of a rural National Children’s Study site; evaluation research of the South Dakota Space Grant Consortium; and the relationship between social capital and health. For my Master’s thesis, I utilized qualitative research methods via in-depth interviewing and the case study method to investigate the impact of community cultural wealth on the health of international students attending a rural, upper Midwest university. Currently I am working on a project utilizing a strengths perspective to assist American Indian youth in identifying strengths in their personal lives and communities. I am also evaluating a summer undergraduate research experience for American Indian students interested in pursuing a career in health science and/or health science research. I am also currently working on a project analyzing Hutterite nutrition.
